Sourcing our Pinot Noir fruit from the finest vineyards in the Southern Valley sub-region, this wine is sophisticated, intriguing, and is the perfect accompaniment to BQ meats, nutty cheese, and mushroom dishes.

Full bodied, plush and round, rich dark fruit featuring blackcurrant and plum. Some herbaceous notes, with firm slightly grippy tannins and a persistent long finish.

The palate is generously full and fruity with plush velvety tannins that lead on to a lingering tangy aftertaste. While ready to drink on release we expect this wine to improve for several years and live for well over a decade with careful cellaring.

Upon release the wine is bright ruby in colour. There is a teasing array of vibrant red fruit on the nose including raspberry, pomegranate, cherry and plum. Spice and herbal notes, as well as a savoury underlay, add to the wine's complexity. While the palate has generous fruit weight and velvety tannins, it is balanced with refreshing acidity and a structure that gives the wine classic North Canterbury tension and pinosity.

Since its inaugural 1962 vintage, Penfolds Bin 128 Coonawarra Shiraz has showcased the elegance and character of one of Australia's finest cool-climate wine regions. Sourced exclusively from Coonawarra's famed terra rossa soils over limestone and matured in French oak hogsheads, it offers a striking contrast to the richer, warmer-climate Shiraz styles for which Penfolds is equally renowned. Crafted from the ancient ironstone soils of Marananga in the heart of the Barossa Valley, Penfolds Bin 150 Shiraz 2020 is a powerful expression of this renowned sub-region, made unmistakably in the Penfolds style. Rich layers of satsuma plum, boysenberry and exotic spice unfold alongside distinctive mineral notes that reflect the region's unique geology, while a careful balance of French and American oak adds depth and refinement. Named after the historic Cellar 23 at Penfolds' Magill Estate, where Pinot Noir barriques mature, Bin 23 continues the winery's long-standing passion for cool-climate Pinot Noir. The 2023 vintage showcases premium Tasmanian fruit, highlighting the purity and character that have made the island one of Australia's most acclaimed Pinot Noir regions. Bright cherry red in the glass, it opens with aromas of wild strawberry, toffee apple and berry compote, layered with hints of fresh fig, blood orange and savoury herbs. The palate balances ripe cherry and mulberry with earthy forest floor, gentle cola spice and roasted chestnut notes, while lively acidity and silky tannins bring freshness and length. Since its first release in 1959, Penfolds Bin 28 has stood as a benchmark for warm-climate Australian Shiraz. Originally sourced from the renowned Kalimna Vineyard in the Barossa Valley, it has evolved into a multi-region blend, with Barossa fruit continuing to provide the rich, generous character that defines this enduring classic. The 2024 vintage opens with layered aromas of black tea, pipe tobacco and worn leather, complemented by hints of Black Forest cake, dried fig and milk chocolate. The palate is bright and energetic, showcasing mulberry, boysenberry and raspberry alongside subtle savoury notes and a touch of vanilla spice. Often known as 'Baby Grange', Bin 389 was first created by legendary Penfolds winemaker Max Schubert in 1960, combining the structure of Cabernet Sauvignon with the richness of Shiraz. The 2023 vintage continues this iconic tradition with generous aromas of blackberry, plum, dark chocolate and Black Forest cake, complemented by cinnamon, dried herbs and discreet toasty oak. The palate is full and layered, bringing together red currant, tart cranberry and vanilla with savoury notes of black olive, orange zest and fennel. Launched with the 1990 vintage, Penfolds Bin 407 was created to showcase the character of high-quality Cabernet Sauvignon, drawing inspiration from the renowned Bin 707. The 2020 vintage delivers classic Cabernet appeal, opening with crème de cassis, blackberry and mulberry, layered with spearmint, cedar, cocoa and gentle spice. Generous and fleshy on the palate, dark cherry and cola flavours are balanced by cranberry acidity, a fine graphite core and seamlessly woven tannins, with French and American oak adding depth and texture. Approachable now yet built for the long haul, Bin 407 2020 promises to evolve beautifully over the next two decades.

Since its inception, Penfolds Koonunga Hill has always aimed to deliver quality, value and consistency. The original 1976 Koonunga Hill Claret is a legendary wine that is still drinking well today. Koonunga Hill Shiraz joined the range in 2002, a contemporary reflection of Penfolds multi-regional sourcing philosophy.
